1. Microphone Access and Voice Audio Processing

To transcribe spoken words into written text, Speechly requires access to your device's microphone input. Here is exactly how audio data is handled:

• Explicit Permission: Speechly cannot activate your microphone without your permission. Your browser displays an explicit permission prompt asking you to allow or deny microphone access.
• Browser Speech Engine: Voice audio is captured in real time and processed through your browser's native speech recognition implementation (the standard HTML5 Web Speech API). Depending on your browser (e.g., Google Chrome), audio phonemes may be processed by the browser vendor's speech recognition servers to deliver high-accuracy text.
• No Private Voice Storage: Speechly does not record, intercept, archive, or harvest your audio files on proprietary databases. We have no ability or desire to listen to your voice recordings.

2. Transcription Data and Local Storage

When you transcribe text or click “Save to History,” the text notes are stored exclusively in your web browser's client-side localStorage:

• This data never leaves your device and is never synchronized to our servers.
• You can delete individual transcript entries or click “Clear All” at any time to permanently wipe your saved local history.
• Clearing your browser cache or site data will also automatically remove all locally stored notes.

3. Cookies and Advertising (Google AdSense)

Speechly is provided as a free utility funded through non-intrusive advertising partnerships, including Google AdSense.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve relevant ads based on browsing activity.
• Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

4. Server Logs and Technical Information

Like most standard web services, our hosting infrastructure may automatically record routine non-personally identifiable technical information in server access logs (such as browser type, operating system, IP address, and timestamp) solely for DDoS mitigation, load balancing, and server health monitoring.

• You can wipe all saved notes locally via the “Clear All History” button.
